Layered System

This modular and hierarchical approach to designing operating systems simplifies development, maintenance, and debugging, as each layer can be developed and tested independently.

Each layer in a layered operating system is responsible for a specific set of functions, and communication between layers occurs through well-defined interfaces. The lower layers interact directly with hardware, while the upper layers provide services to user applications. The layered structure allows for easier replacement or modification of individual layers without affecting the entire system.

Here's a typical representation of the layers in a layered operating system, from the bottom to the top:
